Classic Solitaire FAQ: Learn how to play classic solitaire
Setup
The tableau is stacked from one to seven. The first stack has only one card, the second has two, the third has three, and so on. On each tableau, the top card is always shown face up while the cards below are shoed face down. The cards left after the player moved the cards to the tableau are all placed face down. The waste and the foundations should start with no cards on them.
Objective
To win the game, you need to arrange the foundation piles. The foundation should be arranged by suit and rank. Note that each foundation has only one suit and the cards should be placed on the foundation orderly such as ace, one, two, etc. Move the cards to the foundations by using various moves.
Moves
Move cards from stock to waste. Flip either one or three cards coming from the stock to the waste. You can configure the amount on the settings.
Move a card from the waste to a foundation. If the rank and suit of the card is correct, then you can move it from the waste to the foundation.
Move a card from the waste to a tableau. See if the card’s rank and suit is correct so you can move it from the waste to the tableau.
Move a card from a foundation back to the tableau. Depending on the situation, you can move a card from the foundation back to the tableau.
Move one or more cards from a tableau to another. You can only move one or more cards from one tableau to another if and only if the rank of the first card is higher than the other pile that you plan to move on. Likewise, you can also do it if the color is opposite of the card you plan to move.
Move a tableau card into the foundations. You can manually do it or just let it happen automatically. You can configure it on settings.
Time and Moves
The game has its own time and number of move to complete the game. You can see it on the top right corner of the screen. If you want to turn off the time tracking and the move display, you can disable it on settings.
Scoring
The classic Microsoft scoring is typically used in Windows games. Take a look at the following.
- Waste to tableau move is equals to 5 points.
- Waste to foundation move is equals to 10 points.
- Tableau to foundation is equals to 10 points.
- Tuen over tableau card move is equals to 5 points.
- Foundation to tableau move is minus 15 points.
Moving a card from a waste to the foundation will give you winning 10 points. If you first transfer it to a tableau and then to the foundation, that’s 5 points, giving you all in all of 15 points. So to get a maximum score, you can always move cards from a waste to the tableau before you move them to the foundation.
